Motorists should 'ensure oil is replenished when necessary'

Although it is something relatively simple to do, any car owners are failing to take heed of the warning signs that their cars are dangerously low on oil - something which could impact upon their insurance rates.

This is the advice of Carcraft, which points out that those motorists who ignore or simply forget that their car needs topping up with oil could face hefty repair charges.

Therefore, in a bid to assist them in tackling the problem, the car sales firm is offering to check oil levels for car owners who bring their vehicles to its showrooms during National Oil Check Week, which runs until June 19th.

"It's essential your car has sufficient oil if you want to avoid a hefty and unnecessary repair bill," pointed out Joe Conlin, group service manager for Carcraft.

Around half of all cars require their oil to be topped up and every motorist should check their oil levels at least once a month, according to oil and chemicals firm Comma.
