Music fans offered refunds on Michael Jackson tickets

Fans who bought a ticket to one of Michael Jackson's 50 shows scheduled to take place at the O2 Arena in London this summer have been told they are entitled to full refunds following the announcement of the star's death last night.

The singer, often nicknamed the king of pop, suffered from a massive heart attack at his rented Bel-Air mansion in LA at 12:21pm local time.

Despite efforts on behalf of the city's paramedics to perform CPR, Jackson was pronounced dead in the afternoon.

Now, fans eagerly awaiting his much talked-about comeback have been told they are entitled to claim the money back on their tickets for his London shows.

"The fans will be looked after," said a source from organisers AEG Live. "But right now it is not at the top of the list - it's just a few hours since everyone heard the news".

800,000 tickets have been sold so far, most of them worth between £50 and £75 each.

Thriller, the star's 1982 masterpiece, remains the best-selling album of all time.
