LV= finds Brits would rather spend savings than scrimp

According to the latest LV= Look After What You Love Index, 6.7 million respondents would rather turn to their savings than cut back on their day-to-day outgoings.
A further 64 per cent of people claim to have reevaluated their priorities due to the recession and are now spending more time with their family and loved-ones. A quarter of those polled said they have cut back on insurance and raid their savings to make ends meet.
"Now is the time for people to review what financial protection they have in place to cover their key life priorities and take action to bridge any gaps," Mike Rogers, LV= chief executive, commented.
When it comes to children, however, the attitude towards saving among grandparents is still healthy, according to Saga Insurance. Its research recently discovered that 1.8 million people continue to put money aside for their grandchildren.
