Halifax Student Current Account 'still on offer'

Halifax is reminding existing academics and those set to take up studies this September that its Student Current Account is still available to them.

Features of the account include an interest-free overdraft of up to £3,000 for up to five years, plus an extra year after graduation, a visa debit card and commission-free currency and traveller's cheques.

Students who take advantage of the account are also offered a 25 per cent discount On AA breakdown cover, 20 per cent off Halifax card care card protection insurance and free 24-hour telephone and online banking services.

Mike Regnier, current account director for the Halifax, said that the account offers "real long-term value as an alternative to upfront offers".

"With the most generous interest free overdraft available, the potential savings over a three or four year degree are considerable," he added.

Another bank to offer an account tailored specially to the needs of students within the last month is Natwest.
