Former cricket player 'cannot claim his pension'

A former sportsman who played for England during the 1970 Ashes has spoken of his frustration after being unable to access any of his pension following his retirement.

Peter Lever, now aged 69, paid money into a pension scheme at his Lancashire club over a period of 17 years. However, he has revealed that none of the money has been paid to him since he retired.

This is Money informs that the former sportsman would have been entitled to £220,000 annually under the pension scheme, but now lives on a state pension and faces thousands of pounds in legal costs.

He stated: "I wonder if the members of Lancashire know how badly I've been treated. You'd think the club would help me find my pension, not block me."

Brits are missing out on £5.4 billion they are entitled to by failing to claim pension credits, Age Concern claimed last month.
