Sainsbury's Car Insurance: 2 in 3 Brits irresponsible behind wheel

New figures from Sainsbury's Car Insurance show that two out of three Britons do things while driving that could be potentially dangerous to their fellow motorists.

A survey conducted by the group found that 43 per cent of drivers admit they have behaved dangerously behind the wheel within the last month - a figure four per cent higher than the same time last year.

Of the bad habits people indulge in, eating and drinking came out on top, with 43 per cent admitting they have done this while driving. A further 32 per cent said they got behind the wheel while feeling tired and 17 per cent admitted to speeding.

"Unfortunately many motorists get distracted too easily whilst driving and don't consider the possible consequences of their actions," said the manager of Sainsbury's Car Insurance Lucy Hunter.

Insurance firm Admiral stated last week that rear-end bumps in the UK is costing firms £500 million in claims annually.
