Scottish Widows 5-year Fixed-Rate Deposit Account introduced

Scottish Widows has announced the launch of a new account, which features a five-year term with a fixed-rate of 5.25 per cent gross AER.

Those who opt for the account can choose to receive their earned interest either on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis, the bank informs.

A minimum deposit of £10,000 is required to access the product, the starting date of which is September 23rd 2009. It reaches maturity on September 22nd 2014.

Mandy Webster, marketing manager for Scottish Widows, said that this is the perfect package to compliment the bank's existing one-year fixed-rate accounts.

"The longer term nature of the Five-Year Fixed-Rate Deposit Account ensures customers benefit from security and a good return on their investment," she added.

Scottish Widows has been in operation since 1815 and became part of the Lloyds TSB Group in 2003. It currently has 4,000 individuals on its payroll and offers a range of insurance, savings and investment products.
