Tesco Travel Money: Flu and finances putting Brits off travels

Tesco Travel Money has conducted research which shows that Brits' top worries when it comes to travelling this year include contracting swine flu and falling short on their holiday money.

According to a poll undertaken by Tesco Travel Money, one in five families in the UK has been affected by swine flu worries this year.

A further 36 per cent said they have not booked a holiday yet and will only do so if a good deal comes up.

Of the respondents with children, 17 per cent said they are planning to take their offspring out of school in the autumn so they can cash in on off-peak travel deals.

"This, coupled with the perceived threat of swine flu, [means that] taking last minute holidays is set to be a big trend this summer," explained a spokesperson for Tesco Travel Money.

Brits jetting off to sunnier climes this year have been advised by Abbey Credit Cards to avoid using cash machines if possible, as they could face a collective bill of £73 million in charges.
