Aviva MyHealthCounts health insurance launched

Aviva has launched a new health insurance product called MyHealthCounts which allows people to pay less if they are in good health.

Customers take an online test and, depending on their score, they can receive a discount on their private health insurance premium.

Dr Doug Wright, head of clinical governance at Aviva UK Health, commented that the initiative gave policy holders a "positive incentive" to be healthier.

He added: "MyHealthCounts lets our customers choose the steps they take to improve their lifestyle - however big or small."

The online test involves questions about a customer's medical information, such as their blood pressure, and enquiries about their general lifestyle.

According to previous research by Aviva, three-quarters of businesses in the UK have kept up the number of external consultants they use to maintain health and safety standards in the workplace.
