However, the study also found that 19 per cent of Brits would pick their friend as someone they would like to jet off to an exotic location with, while seven per cent would take their daughter or son.
The most desirable character trait in a companion for a trip is a laidback demeanour, while the most irritating quality is a tendency to moan and complain, the research indicated.
Commenting, Emma Walkley, Abbey Reward Bank Account manager, said that while it is important for people to ensure they spend their time with people they like, it is also important to make sure that money is spent in an appropriate manner.
