Santander brands to launch new fixed-rate bond

Santander's UK brands - Bradford & Bingley Savings, Alliance & Leicester and Abbey - are launching a new two-year fixed-rate bond today, the company has announced.

The product offers 4.20 per cent gross/AER and is available to both existing and new customers when they make a deposit of between £10,000 and £2 million.

Commenting on the launch, Reza Attar-Zadeh, director of savings and investments at the financial service provider, noted that fixed rates continue to be popular with consumers as they take steps to lock into "base rate-beating" returns.

"We're pleased to be able to offer this new highly competitive rate available at all of our 1,300 branches countrywide," he added.

As well as calling into high street branches, consumers can apply for the bonds online or over the phone.

A national television advert to promote the new product is being broadcast to raise awareness of the new products.

Last month, Santander's UK brands lcunched a new fixed-term savings account that pays up to 4.15 per cent.
