Legal & General advises savers to make their money work hard

Legal & General has advised people to be aware of the change in ISA allowances, as it may mean they could be making bigger savings.

Claire Evans, savings marketing director at the organisation, stated that she felt the government could do more to let people know about the increase in ISA allowance to £10,200 on October 6th of this year.

However, she was reassured to see that only 24 per cent of over-50s polled by Legal & General had decided not to invest more when their allowance goes up, as there are valuable tax savings to me made, in her view.

"In times of financial uncertainty it is more important than ever for people to ensure that their savings are working as hard as they can," she said.

Research by the financial services provider indicated that 44 per cent of over-50s were planning on investing more in there ISA, along with 32 per cent who had not yet decided.

Yorkshire Building Society claims that 70 per cent of its ISA holders will be eligible for the increase.
