Confused.com says utilities customers are "fed up"

Confused.com has pointed out that customers are "fed up" with energy companies because they have not seen any fall in the price of utility bills.

Gareth Kloet, head of utilities at the comparison site, pointed out that consumers have heard that the wholesale costs of energy are dropping - but the discount is not being passed on to them.

He stated that there is a price war going on at the moment and from the rates being offered at the moment, it is the online tariffs that are proving to be more competitive.

"Paying by direct debit can also help reduce bills, but switching tariff and/or provider is really where the most money can be saved," added Mr Kloet.

The other ways he advised that consumers can lower their bills is by switching lights off when you are not in a room and turning down the thermostat on the central heating.

Research released by uSwitch this week indicated that 51 per cent of customers believe they are getting good value for the money they are paying for energy.
