Tax-free savings are important, says Leeds Building Society

Leeds Building Society has noted the importance of tax-free savings to its customers, especially when the current economic climate is taken into consideration.

Kim Rebecchi, director of sales and marketing at the financial services provider, made her comments as the firm announced that it has elected to expand its fixed-rate Isa range.

Leeds Building Society is set to accept transfers from other Isa providers and reiterated that it is "well prepared" to allow qualifying customers to top up their Isas next Tuesday.

"We have seen very high Isa inflows this year and are very aware that tax-free savings are extremely important to our customers. That is why we have taken the decision to accept this additional allowance," Ms Rebecchi added.

She cited that the company has Isas that pay up to 4.6 per cent interest, which is the equivalent of 7.67 per cent for higher-rate tax payers and more than 15 times higher the current Bank of England base rate of 0.5 per cent.
