AA Savings encourages consumers to pick "straightforward account"

AA Savings has urged savers to choose a simple but flexible account to invest their money into.

The organisation has launched the new Internet Saver Extra account, which pays 3.3 per cent gross interest on balances of £50,000 and above and 3.15 per cent on balances below that.

Mark Huggins, director of AA Savings, commented that this new account is good for customers who need the flexibility to pay in and take out money when they want to, but still accrue a competitive rate of return.

He said: "With last month's news that households are saving more of their income we're looking to encourage people to save in a straightforward account with a good interest rate over the coming year."

Mr Huggins pointed out that there are plenty of fixed-rate accounts that offer a good return, but the problem is that people are not normally allowed to access their funds with this type of product.

AA Savings recently reported that a third of people putting money aside for their wedding had saved less than £100 so far.
