Aviva says recession has provoked good habits

Aviva has stated that some good habits have come about from the recession and it would be beneficial to continue these once the economy has recovered.

Dr Doug Wright, principal clinical consultant at the financial services provider's UK health division, made his comments following research, which indicated that many people have taken cost-cutting measures which improve their health.

These range from growing vegetables instead of buying them, to keeping chickens as a source of eggs.

Dr Wright accepted that it is tempting to return to old habits once the economic climate improves, but it would be healthier to stick to these new options.

"Even small steps can have a really positive impact on health, so we need to integrate them into a long-term plan rather than look for a short-term fix," he explained.

This week, the company released a new advertising campaign which highlights how small lifestyle changes can make an impact on people's health.
