Gocompare.com: Not all motor insurance increasing in price

Gocompare.com has advised car insurance customers that not all providers are increasing the price of premiums.

Lee Griffin, business development director at the comparison site, made his comments following the release of the AA's British Insurance Premium Index, which showed an annual increase of 14 per cent in September.

He urged drivers not to accept this level of increase if they encounter it on their renewal quote and to shop around instead.

Mr Griffin pointed out that not all insurance providers are increasing their premiums by this much and they are mainly targeting specific types of risk.

"Insurers need to do more to control costs - it isn't acceptable for drivers to pay for insurer's inefficiencies or their legal bills," he explained.

According to him, these costs are coming from problems with fraud, personal injury and credit hire claims.

He remarked that drivers are normally happy to pay a fair price to cover risks, but that these increases are too much.
