If a customer was to take out a family policy to cover them for serious illness, with a life policy to protect their home mortgage, they would receive a £1.50 monthly discount to be split across the two products.
Should they then chose to add another insurance policy, they would receive a further £1.50 discount, resulting in a £1 monthly saving on the three policies.
Two individuals applying for the same product, for example business partners looking for key man insurance, would also receive the monthly discount. However, this does not apply to joint life insurance policies.
Bonnie Burns, protection product technical director at Legal &General, said that by creating the incentive to buy, clients can purchase quality products and save money.
Life insurance plans specifically tailored to the over-50s were launched by Legal & General during the summer. The three plans guarantee a payout if the holder dies within two years of taking out the policy.
