New saving products released by Santander

Investors looking for a guaranteed return from their savings have two new products to consider from Santander.

Released through Abbey and Alliance & Leicester, the offerigns come as either a Guaranteed Growth Plan, which has a return of 11 per cent, or a Guaranteed Capital Plus, which can give up to 0.5 per cent back on investments.

The new options follow on from two other guaranteed investments the company launched last month and are only available from November 16th to January 5th 2010, or earlier if they sell out.

There are two ways to invest - either outside an Isa, where capital gains tax can be used to alleviate any liability - or within an Isa, where any interest will escape income tax and capital gains tax.

Simon Taylor, head of investments at Santander, said the products are "designed to appeal to savers looking for potentially greater returns than those currently available on standard cash savings accounts but without risk to their capital".
