Moneynet: Several options for Christmas credit seekers

A number of different options exist for people who are keen to secure credit in the run-up to Christmas.

Such is the opinion of Andrew Hagger, spokesperson for Moneynet.co.uk, who made his comments after the publication of research by moneysupermarket.com indicated that 66 per cent of people believe they will not have enough cash by Christmas to cover their festive spending.

Mr Hagger stated that people keen to secure credit could make use of their existing credit cards and transfer their balance over on to a zero per cent balance transfer product when the statement arrives.

Other consumers could be tempted to opt for a zero per cent purchases card.

However, Mr Hagger suggested that people act sooner rather than later, as it can take time for credit card applications to be processed.

"You really need to get the application in for that new card now – there's a time delay between getting that application in and having [the card] in your hand," he concluded.
