Christmas party cash cutbacks considered

Christmas parties are suffering as a result of the ongoing economic downturn, it has been asserted.

According to research by uSwitchforbusiness.com, almost half (42 per cent) of small businesses will not be having a Christmas party this year as a result of financial cutbacks.

It seems that seasonal shindigs are not the only things to have suffered due to the recession, with 58 per cent of people who own businesses finding that they had to make cutbacks of some sort in 2009.

Only a third (33 per cent) of people were able to leave perks for their staff as they originally stood.

However, 43 per cent of respondents said that they can see some signs of economic recovery, so may be tempted to throw a big bash for Christmas 2010.

Research by the company from earlier this year showed that 81 per cent of people with small businesses feel that they will survive the recession.
