Saga: Pets receive Christmas gifts

Many pet owners are planning on giving their companions a special treat this Christmas, according to Saga pet insurance.
Of those questioned, 53 per cent of consumer are planning on giving their furry friends a gift this festive period, with 56 per cent of women looking for a present for their four-legged friend, compared to 48 per cent of men.
And, gifts are not the only area creatures do well in, as 18 per cent of animal lovers are planning to make an individual Christmas lunch especially for animal companions this year.
The over-50s are the one age group who realise the risk in overindulging their animals and potentially requiring a claim on their pet insurance, with 30 per cent planning to give extra treats like chocolate, compared to 37 per cent of the under 50 category.
Christmas is not the only time of the year that pets can expect tasty treats. Saga found that on bonfire night, 18 per cent of owners give their furry friends special treats to stop them from becoming scared by the noise.
