Saga: Caravan owners use them for festive guests

Caravan owners still find use for their mobile homes during the winter months, according to research from Saga.

Those who are expecting guests over the Christmas period plan to house them in their caravans, with 32 per cent surveyed said they utilise the extra space.

However, just nine per cent of people said they would be happy to be put in their host's caravan during their stay.

A further 41 per cent of those questioned said they are planning to take a trip away this winter in their caravan.

With Saga insurance, caravans will be covered all year round, even if they are lent to friends or family members. Cover also includes any loss or damage to the caravan's contents, including any equipment or awnings.

Many people may be put off taking a break away in their caravan over the winter due to fears of driving in bad weather. Saga recently found that 48 per cent of motorists prefer not to drive in inclement conditions.
