'Shop around' for best Christmas movies deal

Shopping around is key to finding the best satellite film package deals, according to uSwitch.com.

As 22 per cent of people surveyed said that watching movies with their family was an important Christmas tradition, signing up to a film package can be a good way of increasing their movie collection, without much extra cost.

Sky customers can add movie packages to their existing contracts from £8 a month, while Virgin Media customers have the choice of getting extra movies for £16.50 a month, or a £5 a month subscription to PictureBox, which allows them to watch up to 28 films a month.

Jason Glynn, communications expert at uSwitch.com, said: "We're used to shopping around for Christmas bargains - and this applies to TV packages too this year."

It was recently reported by uSwith.com that consumers could save themselves money by changing their energy providers. The new online energy tariff from npower undercuts the former lowest-priced deal from British Gas by £22 a year.
