'Most expensive street in the UK' revealed

The most expensive place to buy a property in the UK is Wycombe Square in London, according to Halifax.

Situated in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, the average property price in the square is £5,401,447.

In addition, all of the top ten placed most expensive locations were in Greater London, with the most expensive area outside the capital being Moles Hill in Leatherhead in Surrey, where the average property price comes in at £2,645,000.

Nitesh Patel, housing economist at Halifax, commented: "Kensington and Chelsea has long had a global appeal, but the fall in the value of sterling has helped to attract foreign buyers over the past year despite the worldwide economic recession."

Halifax reported in November that house prices had increased by an average of 1.2 per cent in October, compared to the previous month. However, this is still a decline of 4.7 per cent on property prices in the previous year.
