Halifax offers Rewards for account holders

Consumers who hold a bank account with Halifax can receive rewards on their money.

Account holders who pay in at least £1,000 to their accounts, or those who hold an Ultimate Reward Current Account, will be able to receive a range of offers with the financial institution.

These new bonuses include an extra 0.2 per cent increase on variable rate savings products for one year and an extra three months at zero per cent on purchases made on the Halifax all-in-one credit card, in addition to the nine months already provided for purchases and balance transfers.

Halifax mortgage holders can also get 0.2 per cent taken off the monthly interest charged on their deal.

Mike Regnier, personal current account director for Halifax, said: "This range of products will benefit savers and spenders alike."

A higher interest rate could help consumers who are saving up to buy something special, as Halifax reported recently that 72 per cent of their account holders were currently saving up to pay for their 2010 summer holiday.
