Barclays improves its mobile banking facility

Funds can now be transferred between the customer's accounts and those of existing or new beneficiaries which have been set up through online banking.
It is the first UK bank to offer such a facility and has created an interface specifically for the purpose, allowing people to carry out the transaction on their phones simply and quickly.
Banking services are available to consumers with a variety of mobile phones, including those from Nokia, Apple and BlackBerry.
This comes in addition to the existing services which Barclays offers its account holders, such as viewing their mini-statements and transferring funds between their own accounts.
Sean Gilchrist, Barclays digital banking director, said: "We are taking the lead in the market with a dedicated mobile phone banking site, which is the most flexible way of evolving services for customers and our mobile service isn't limited to a single mobile device."
