Higher with profits rates from Friends Provident

Investors with Friends Provident are set to enjoy good with profits rates after the firm released its latest results.

The company said it was committed to passing on its profits fairly and that its announcement ensures payouts from with profits schemes are done fairly.

There was a gross return on with profits funds of 9.3 per cent in 2009, as well as regular bonus rates being maintained.
Andy Carr, Friends Provident's chief actuary, said: "The experience of most policyholders will be that the cashable value of their plans will have increased by around 10 per cent in February 2010 compared to February 2009."

Earlier this month, the institution advised its customers on ways to plan for their retirement. These included checking how much is already saved for retirement and making increases if possible.

Tracking down former employers to see if there are any payments held elsewhere is another way of increasing the amount of money that has been saved for old age.
