Winter sports caution urged by esure travel insurance

Winter sports enthusiasts have been advised to check the hazardous sports section of their insurance cover before heading out to try potentially dangerous activities like ice skating or tobogganing, as they may not be covered on the policy.
Mike Pickard, head of travel insurance at esure, said that it is crucial to check the small print on policies while also suggesting that holidaymakers contact their insurer before trying out a new activity.
The firm was also keen to emphasise the importance of having holiday cover after it found that 13 per cent of holidaymakers have been injured while taking part in extreme sports.
Earlier research by the group also revealed that three per cent of people questioned thought that their European Health Insurance Card would cover any medical costs.
