Scottish Widows: Romance suffers under financial worries

Brits are putting their relationships lower on their list of priorities amid concerns over their careers and money, it has been stated.

Research by Scottish Widows found that 36 per cent of people felt that they neglected their relationships more than any other area of their lives, with 33 per cent believing they do not have the time to balance their work and private life.

But financial worries are a big issue for 12 per cent of people who are concerned about how they will make ends meet.

Alison Morris, savings expert for Scottish Widows, said that in the run up to Valentine's Day "it is time for the nation to start putting their relationships first and other concerns such as money worries second".

The 25 per cent of respondents who stated that they wanted to spend more time with their children could have been affected by earlier findings from Scottish Widows that increasing worries over debt had forced around four million people back into work after having children.
