Advice for Toyota drivers from motoring.co.uk

Toyota drivers confused by the recent car recalls have been offered advice by Kevin Gaskell, the chairman of motoring.co.uk.

Describing the level of bad publicity which the firm has received in recent days following the reports of a fault being found with the accelerators on some vehicles, Mr Gaskell reminded consumers that the possibility of something being wrong with their car was "very small".

So far, published figures have reported less than 20 incidents of a defect being found on the vehicles, he stated, out of the 150 million Toyotas which are currently in everyday use.

Adding that motorists may be left feeling unsure by the barrage of information, he advised that the best course of action is to follow the recommendations given out by the manufacturer.

Furthermore, an announcement by the Association of British Insurers stated that all insurance policies will remain valid, despite the recalls.

Last month, Mr Gaskell commented that he believed other forms of funding from car makers to help people to make purchases would continue this year, despite the end of the government's scrappage scheme.
