Car finance industry kite mark boost

Ford Retail has received the backing of a finance industry competency programme.

With the release of the new 10 number registration plate on March 1st, the announcement has come just ahead of a predicted busy period for the retailer.

The certification handed to Ford Retail by the Finance and Leasing Association (FLA) recognises the group as Specialist Automotive Finance (SAF) Approved.

Paul Harrison, the head of motor finance at the FLA, noted that the award would help boost customer confidence in showroom-sold finance packages because it guarantees that members of staff have a desired level of competency.

Mr Harrison said: "As the representative body for motor finance providers, the FLA recognised back in 2007 there was a need to set a kite-mark for motor finance".

A report released by the FLA earlier in February indicated that credit granted to customers taking out car finance had risen 41 per cent in December 2009.
