HSBC accounts 'reunited with customers'

Brendan Cook, HSBC retail products executive manager, stated the company was delighted to have made customers aware of their forgotten money.

He said: "It is important that we continue to try to trace these customers so that we can make them aware of what is rightfully theirs."

The bank provides some advice to help customers find their lost money again by retrieving the details of the account using either an old bank statement, the address of the branch, or the date when the account was last used.

Almost 7,400 HSBC customers have been reunited with their old accounts which had been left untouched for nearly 15 years.

HSBC recently launched the new Advance account, which gives a discounted monthly fee of £6 for the first three months of the deal.
