He said: "Suppliers seem to be clambering to rejoin the pack and to bring their prices back in line with those who have already made the move."
Mr Lyon advised that online payment was a helpful way to further the reductions already made by energy providers because they can cost up to £300 less than a standard plan.
British Gas, Scottish & Southern Energy and E.ON have all recently made a reduction to their bills.
Audrey Gallacher, energy expert at Consumer Focus, commented that the new price cuts were an indication of desperation from the Big Six, which all made similar reductions to stay within "the safety of the pack".
