Aegon Ireland protected growth fund 'offers security'

David Aaron, marketing communications manager for investment products at Aegon, warned against making predictions except in the short to medium term and said that Aegon's new protected growth fund has a low risk rating.

He said: "The unit price of the fund can also be monitored on a daily basis to enable advisers and their clients know exactly how the fund is performing."

The fund allows customers to make an initial investment of 70 per cent in equities and 30 per cent in cash, which gives them the choice to make capital gains with a protection level of 80 per cent.

In a speech given by the prime minister about the economy on March 10th, he also gave a cautionary account, saying that the world stock market had fallen by 50 per cent in the last 18 months.
