M&S Premier Home Insurance gives unlimited accidental damage cover

The Premier cover has been given a five-star rating by Defaqto and
customers will receive 1000 M&S points when they take out a new policy.

Matt Ward, wealth management consultant at Defaqto, suggested that even Mother's Day jewellery gifts may not be covered under some policies and reminded customers to ensure they understood the terms before agreeing to them.

He added: "Make sure your mum is aware of her policy limit and specify any items that have a higher value, to ensure that she is correctly insured."

The contents insurance would therefore cover those accidents many households sustained over the weekend when mum put her feet up and let dad do the housework.

M&S research revealed that of the top five types of accidental damage which needed insurance protection, broken crockery came top in a survey conducted using children and fathers who were unused to doing the washing up.
