Share investments have "fair value", says expert

Adrian Lowcock, senior investment advisor at Bestinvest, said that shares were adequately priced relative to factors such as unemployment levels and the state of the general economy.

He added: "Long term it looks slightly undervalued but I think considering the risks in the system at the moment, shares look fair value - but saying that they do not look expensive."

Mr Lowcock explained that consequently there was an opportunity to buy in the UK, but recommended customers seek the advice of a stockbroker.

The Association of Investment Companies (AIC) recently revealed that tax rises had begun to preoccupy investors and had persuaded 72 per cent to move their savings into an Isa.

AIC findings showed that 45 per cent of investors compared with 21 per cent of the general population think their money is most threatened by rising tax rates.
