She added: "In this low interest rate environment, investors also need to develop diversified portfolios to stand the best chance of obtaining the returns they seek."
According to research undertaken by the bank, of the various options available 81 per cent of investors intended to invest in equities, 34 per cent planned for funds and 21 per cent want to put money into exchange traded funds.
Customers will be allowed to process their Isa requests by telephone or online before April 5th but the deadline for paper applications ends on April 3rd.
The comparison website unbiased.co.uk found that consumers' apathy to tax-efficient Isas will generate £35 million in unnecessary tax payments this year.
