Sainsbury's credit card launch "is good news for customers"

Peter Harrison, credit card expert at moneysupermarket.com, said the two new cards represent good value for money in a financial market which offers little customer rewards at the moment.

He added: "Both products shape up pretty well in terms of introductory periods, APR and benefits … and will be especially attractive to anyone shopping at Sainsbury's on a regular basis," but commented that the Nectar card was not suited to the purposes of lending.

The supermarket now provides a Nectar credit card with 12.9 per cent APR plus double reward points for the first two years and a standard zero per cent card, applicable for the first 12 months.

Moreover, the financial website moneynet.co.uk commented that the launch of these two cards will help to create a loyal customer base and make reward offers more fashionable.
