Nationwide makes savings predictions

The Nationwide savings index increased three points in March compared to the previous month and the financial services provider believes that it could continue to go up as a result of the popularity of Isa savings products.
Head of savings at the organisation Andy Hutchinson explained: "Now that the new tax year has started, some savers' attention will be switched onto saving as early as possible in an Isa to maximise their tax benefit."
He suggested that as much as two-thirds of Isa business for 2010 could occur between February and May.
The same firm's consumer confidence index for March is poised to be released on Thursday April 15th and will gauge attitudes of the public towards spending, employment and the economy.
