New Aviva health insurance policy focuses on quick diagnosis

The Speedy Diagnostics health insurance policy is aimed at people whose budget does not stretch to afford full cover, but do not want to have to deal with overly-long diagnosis times on the NHS, according to Aviva.

Head of propositions and market development at the financial services provider Neal Archbold made his comments after the firm published research suggesting that 88 per cent of people find that being ill is more stressful while waiting to find out what is wrong.

He explained that Speedy Diagnostics has been introduced by Aviva to ease some of the anxiety that this can cause, by allowing people access to specialist consultants and tests, while potentially getting their treatment carried out by the NHS.

"People value the quality of care that the NHS offers - but they want the peace of mind that quick access to diagnostic tests provides," stated Mr Archbold.

Last week, he suggested that Speedy Diagnostics can act as a complement to many of the low-cost products that the firm offers.
