M&S urges insurance check before DIY projects

People should check that their insurance will cover any accidents that take place before they begin a DIY project in their homes, it has been suggested by Marks & Spencer (M&S) Money.

Head of general insurance at the organisation Andrew Ferguson pointed out that one-fifth of 'DIY Dads' admitted to spilling paint on the floor when they attempt to decorate their property.

Mr Ferguson suggested that individuals take a moment to ensure that they have accidental damage cover on their insurance policy and check if there is a limit on it.

"Spring is one of the most popular times of year to kick-start all those DIY jobs that have been accumulating over the winter months. But even simple painting projects don't always go to plan," pointed out the M&S Money spokesperson.

Last month, the financial services provider urged customers to have a look at their policies to be sure items in their gardens are covered.
