Sainsbury's Cash Passport could be useful for the World Cup

Football fans heading to South Africa for the World Cup this summer could find that a Sainsbury's Cash Passport allows them to take more money over to the country.

The firm revealed there is currently a 5,000 SA rand (£445) cash limit for people entering the African nation, but its research shows that 36 per cent of individuals set to attend the sporting event plan on taking more than this.

Scott Gorman, head of the organisation's Travel Money arm, noted that a Sainsbury's Cash Passport allows travellers to take up to 85,000 SA rand with them.

By signing up for this product, tourists will avoid the risk of having money confiscated from them when they are entering the nation.

Mr Gorman stated: "Our research shows that thousands of people may be taken by surprise at the currency import restrictions in place when entering South Africa."

The World Cup is set to begin on June 11th, with England playing their first game the next day against USA.
