This is the view of travel insurance manager at the firm Scott Gorman, who suggested it should allow people to buy quality cover for an affordable price.
The deal is only available for Nectar card holders who apply for such policies on the internet and Mr Gorman claimed they could save consumers even more money if something unexpected does happen.
He highlighted how illness or lost baggage can end up being very costly for travellers and insurance acts as a safety net against many problems suffered abroad.
"Whether you're heading thousands of miles away or holidaying in the UK this summer, good quality travel insurance should be a must," remarked the Sainsbury's Finance insurance representative.
This week, the firm reminded travellers heading to the World Cup in South Africa about the 5,000 SA rand (£445) limit on cash brought into the country.
