Aviva retirement calculator 'helps people understand their pensions'

People who do not understand how much each of their annuity options could offer them could benefit from the Aviva retirement calculator, according to a spokesperson for the firm.

Aviva Life at-retirement director Clive Bolton made his remarks after the insurer revealed 64 per cent of over-55s are worried about rising taxes over the next five years.

He highlighted how more of this age group are concerned about such increases than of their partner falling ill, which may be because they feel particularly exposed to VAT and fuel levies.

Mr Bolton suggested the over-55s could benefit from utilising the Aviva retirement calculator, since it could help them understand how to maximise their income.

"Many people in this age group are concerned about the rising cost of living due to their relatively fixed income. Therefore, it is vital that they make the most of their pension pots," he added.

Aviva recently announced it has added another nine funds to its wrap and Sipp platforms, including the Standard Life Strategic Bond.
