Aviva travel insurance optional add-on 'expands cover'

There are now more scenarios covered by the Aviva travel insurance optional add-on, according to a spokesperson for the financial services provider.

Jerry Finch, travel manager at the firm, suggested the expansion of terms should make people more confident about going overseas.

He explained the Aviva travel insurance optional add-on will offer cover in case of any airspace, port of airport closure - including those caused by volcanic ash - as well as a pandemic situation or terrorism prevention scenario.

Mr Finch stated: "Introducing the new option we are providing our customers with the freedom to choose the amount of cover they feel would be right for them."

The new product is available from June 1st and will be a fixed price of £5 for a single trip and £10 for annual insurance policies for each person.

This week, airfarewatchdog.com revealed issues such as volcanic ash clouds are not discouraging everyone from travelling abroad, with 39 per cent of respondents to a survey saying they had no intention of changing their plans, reported Reuters.
