Independent advice is invaluable, says unbiased.co.uk

People should treat independent advice as a valuable source of information when they are making decisions on their finances, a representative from unbiased.co.uk has suggested.

Karen Barrett, chief executive of the website, noted it is understandable if consumers are put off sorting out their money situation because it seems like a daunting challenge.

However, she claimed having a qualified expert helping out can give a person reassurance that they are doing the right thing for themselves and for their families.

Ms Barrett explained: "Seeking independent financial advice on your finances - whether it may be mortgages, retirement or savings and investments - is an invaluable step."

Her comments were made after unbiased.co.uk revealed more people would speak to an expert about repairing their car or fixing an electrical appliance than about money issues.

This month, the firm stated the most popular issue for individuals to speak to an independent financial advisor about in April was personal retirement planning, followed by investments and savings.
