Insurance deal for first direct banking customers 'was an easy decision'

The decision to award Allianz Corporate with an insurance contract for first direct banking customers was easy thanks to the firm's approach to business.

This is the view of first direct segment manager Sarah Barraclough, who made these remarks after it was revealed that Allianz will provide mobile phone insurance for the organisation's clients.

She explained that it was an easy decision to install the firm in this role, with its attitude towards product innovation helping to confirm the insurance provider as the number one candidate for the job.

Ms Barraclough added: "Allianz won the tender based upon their understanding of the First Direct brand and our commitment to customer service."

This move means 70,000 first direct banking customers will be offered mobile phone insurance from the provider from June 1st.

Allianz recently revealed it has joined the PowerPlace panel, which may allow the firm to speed up communications with brokers and simplify procedures.
