HSBC home insurance alert for love struck Brits

HSBC home insurance has issued a stark warning to loved up Brits ahead of Valentine's Day.

The high street bank expects some of the more romantically inclined among us to pop the question next week.

But anyone with marriage on their minds should make sure they've insured the engagement ring.

Expensive jewellery is easily lost and often targeted by thieves.

Therefore, young couples should check their home insurance before getting down on one knee.

"It's easy to forget practicalities like insurance in the middle of romantic bliss," said Stephen Young, head of insurance at HSBC.

"If you want to avoid heartache, or a big bill, make time to check your insurance, then enjoy preparing for your big day."
