Unbiased.co.uk highlights importance of savings account choice

Choosing the right savings account can help people to build up their savings as much as possible, according to Unbiased.co.uk, even if they are not able to put much aside.

Karen Barrett, chief executive of the organisation, highlighted research by the company, which showed that people have been saving less at the beginning of this year.

However, she added: "Brits appear to have started 2010 with a tighter grip on their finances, as they are not borrowing as much as they were in 2009."

In her view, even if consumers cannot afford to put much money into a savings account, choosing the product offering the best return will help to contend with rising inflation and low interest rates.

Last month, she noted that a study by Unbiased.co.uk indicated that 71 per cent of eligible youngsters have had child trust funds opened for them since 2005.
